Responsibilities


  • Lead electrical engineer responsible for Electrical building services engineering design, from concept design through to construction issue and site supervision.
  • Provide technical support and professional development.
  • Design according to Local Electricity Regulations, and International Regulations (IEC, British Standards, NFPA).
  • Preparing technical specifications.
  • Managing a remote team of engineers and BIM team for project delivery.
  • Instruct BIM operators in all projects related matters and responsible for the checking of all BIM works done.
  • Coordinate with Architects, Structural Engineers and Electrical Engineers and any other external design consultant.
  • To understand and implement AtkinsRéalis ME Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Site surveys and inspections.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations both internal and to external stakeholders.
  • Contribute in Project Bidding, and preparation of proposals including scope of works, methodology, execution strategy, fees, and risk management.
  • Lead project QA/QC reviews.
  • Capability of providing Value engineering points/ideas.
  • Production of Electrical switchgear room layouts, and Panel switchboard arrangement for safe installation and commissioning (included as part of design experience, no production).
  • Writing performance specifications for testing and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Review of and ability to interrogate Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Working in multiple projects, and ability to service clients in tight timescales in projects.
  • Production of design risk assessment.
  • Resource management.
  • Training and mentoring engineers.
  • Production of weekly and monthly reports on project progress to management.
  • Technical Design Report writing for all design stages.
  • Effective time management and ability to work and deliver design on multiple projects.
  • Capability of acting as MEP Lead Engineer on some projects in addition to Electrical lead responsibilities.
  • Capability of verifying the Variation Orders on Design.

Requirements


  • Degree qualified – minimum requirement of BEng.
  • Minimum 15-20 years with a track record and experience working in design of Building Services for Private, Government, Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Leisure and Entertainment and Hotel markets (mid rise, and High rise).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Design with Consultancy companies in UAE and Gulf is a must requirement.
  • Experience of electrical design software – Computer design package-Amtech, LUX Calculations, cable tray calculations,…etc.
  • Understanding and application of British, American and International design standards.
  • Good understanding and application of sustainable design initiatives internationally and locally (LEED/BREEAM/Mostadam).
  • Good level of computer literacy in Windows and other Microsoft products.
  • Good communication skills- verbal and written.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • An understanding of BIM/Revit (use of Revit), and experience in Navis works.
  • CEng qualification with a reputable international organisation (CIBSE or IET).
  • Awareness of Middle east Authorities regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.
  • Leadership Skills is essential.
