Responsible for monitoring the operation in assigned laboratory section both technical and work organizational concerns in the area.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Perform competently lab tests with the use of automated and manual techniques.
- Assist in training staff, leading a professional skilled team.
- Create and promote healthy working relationships.
- Advise phlebotomists and receptionists on appropriate specimen collecting conditions and any information that helps in optimizing the analytical process.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance, perform troubleshooting whenever needed, and keep spare parts of the machines always available.
- Coordinate with biomedical engineers for scheduled preventive maintenance and in cases of machine breakdown.
- Perform the calibration of the machines and instruct the staff in the section about the correct procedures.
- Apply Internal Quality Control (IQC), as needed or instructed by the manufacturer, and External Quality Control (EQC) Program as required by national or international accreditation organizations.
- Organize the filling and archiving of IQC and EQC results for ultimate consultation and inspection.
- Verify the accuracy of patients' abnormal results and report them to the immediate supervisor or Laboratory Director before final release.
- Monitor the systematic recording of laboratory results in the assigned area.
- Participate in writing, reviewing, and implementing Internal Policy and Procedure (IPP), forms, and any documentation to achieve technical parts of the laboratory according to local and international laboratory standards.
- Prepare the working schedule for the hematology staff to ensure optimal presence as needed by the workload.
- Participate in preparing reagents and materials orders, in coordination with the laboratory supervisor.
- Control necessary stock levels of reagents and materials to ensure at least two (2) months of consumption.
- Participate in continuing medical education to enhance professional knowledge and competency.
- Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
- Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
- Provide patient and family education as needed.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Immediate Supervisor or Laboratory Director.
Job Purpose / Objective:

Education / Professional Qualification:
- Educational: Bachelor’s Degree
- Professional: Medical Laboratory Science
Experience:
- Four (4) years of experience in the same specialty.
- Two (2) years working in HMG laboratory as a technician is an advantage.

- Certification: Relevant certification
