Job description

We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician for a steel factory to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of a technical nature.

You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests, reporting findings to a laboratory manager.

Job location:

Jeddah, KSA.

Job role:

1. Performing pre-analytical procedures
2. Sorting, allocating, and delivering specimens to work stations and loading onto laboratory instruments as required
3. Receiving, unpacking, and sorting incoming specimens or solutions
4. Participating in basic quality control procedures and inventory management
5. Maintaining good record-keeping practices while adhering to quality and safety programs
6. Maintaining accuracy and calibration of laboratory testing equipment
7. Performing routine inspections on laboratory equipment to determine when maintenance is required
8. Using relevant computer software to collect or input data and information
9. Expertise in dealing with laboratory instruments such as Gas Chromatography, Moisture Analyzer, pH, Conductivity, TDS, TSS, TOC, COD, Cl, Fe, X-Ray, FTIR, Density, Specific Gravity, Melt Index, Color Index, with experience in Gas Chromatography

Additional responsibilities in Quality Assurance Department, laboratory section:

1. Analyzing gases and liquids such as hydrocarbons and water using GC instruments, with good control during plant startup or shutdown
2. Analyzing MTBE, polypropylene (PP) products
3. Using various types of GC (e.g., Agilent, Broker, SION) and troubleshooting
4. Water analysis
5. Polymer physical and chemical analysis, including MVR, melting point, color, contamination tests, and formaldehyde concentration
6. Operating injection molding machines and extruders safely and troubleshooting them
