Job description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Qualifications:

  • Diploma (Chemical), Bachelor of Technology/Engineering (Chemical), Bachelor of Science (Chemistry)
  • Nationality: Any Nationality

Job Description:

  • Covers all wet laboratory activities and maintenance of lab equipment, reagents, chemicals, and other consumables used in the laboratory.
  • Covers the preparation of all wet lab test analysis, lab solutions, reagents, and media and/or other laboratory apparatus, as needed to carry out laboratory exercises.
  • Covers wet lab activities from sample collection, receiving, preparation, and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating all incoming environmental samples, chemicals, R&D, reagents, and other samples submitted to EEC laboratory under wet laboratory analysis. Also perform record keeping, monitoring and reporting, and other related lab technician responsibilities as directed by the Lab Manager.
  • Responsible for performing laboratory wet lab results, routine inspection report monitoring (instrument and environmental condition), testing of new chemicals/media and materials.
  • Responsible for operation, preventive maintenance troubleshooting, repair, and internal calibration of all instrumentation and experiments of wet laboratory equipment.
  • Responsible for testing samples from all phases or other handling processes, with the goal of determining if the substance meets the standards or requirements of the project.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laboratory experiments are being followed according to established Standard Operating Practices (SOP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), as well as any applicable federal regulations or industry standards (EPA/KEPA Appendixes).
  • Responsible for the preparation of documents that report the results of their lab work.
  • Other duties may vary from time to time based on direction from the EEC Laboratory Manager for the specific post.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and test laboratory equipment and relevant documentation.

Authorities & Accountabilities:

  • Authorize and accountable to ensure that laboratory responsibilities, objectives, and goals set by management are fulfilled.
  • Authorize to direct daily activities in the laboratory in the absence of the assigned Chemist.
  • Accountable to comply with the standard ISO requirements stated in IMS policy and identify OHS risks in the Lab.
  • Prepare Test Reports and Update Analysis Records.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Well-versed in oral and written communication.
  • Multitasking skills to perform lab activities as an alternative post in the absence of the Laboratory supervisor.
  • Technical inclination in handling wet laboratory measuring instruments.

Desired Qualification & Experience:

Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry and/or diploma in chemical engineering with at least 3 years of experience in laboratory-related activities. Must be multitasking and willing to perform tasks as required by top management.
