Nordman Partners is supporting a global oilfield service company with a key strategic hire in Saudi Arabia. The company is building on an already strong presence in Saudi Arabia with the introduction of a new advanced technology, and the Lab Manager will be central to this project.
Job Summary:
The Lab Manager will oversee the efficient and high-quality operation of the company's service line. The ideal candidate will have expertise in process optimization and operations management to streamline workflows, maximize throughput, ensure quality control, and maintain a safe and productive lab environment. This role involves direct communication and collaboration with clients to understand their needs, gather feedback, and relay information to the lab, operations, and engineering teams. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, results-driven, and focused on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & oversight - Manage and supervise laboratory personnel. Ensure team members are trained and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.
- Operational Management - Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Project Management
- Client Relationship Management - Act as the primary liaison with clients, understanding their needs, gathering feedback on digitalized samples, and ensuring high levels of communication on updates and progress on ongoing jobs and service delivery.
- Process Optimization - Develop and implement strategies to streamline workflows, maximize throughput, and enhance overall lab efficiency.
- Quality Assurance - Establish and maintain quality control protocols, ensuring data integrity and validation of results.
- Budget Management - Develop and manage the lab's budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation & operations.
- Continuous Improvement - Foster a culture of continuous learning & development in lab personnel, implementing relevant innovations within the laboratory, including digitalization workflows. Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in lab management and digital imaging.
- Digital Library Management
Previous experience, education, and competencies
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, or a relevant field.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Preferred experience in process optimization and digitalization workflows.
- Experience with mass production concepts: continuous flow, batches and queuing, lean production, push/pull production.
- Proficient in data analysis with experience with data management software.
- Experience in oil and gas services is preferred; however, lab experience from highly regulated industries such as chemical and pharmaceutical would be relevant.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Preference would be given to candidates possessing a Six Sigma Certification.
