Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel's policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
  2. Maintain good rapport and working relationship with staff in all departments.
  3. Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, departmental and hotel training as scheduled, and other related activities.
  4. Undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Engineering / Assistant Engineering Manager.
  5. Respond to any changes in the Engineering department function as dictated by the hotel.
  6. Handle guest and employee inquiries courteously and efficiently, report complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution is found, and follow up with guests.
  7. Handle and treat all matters of a confidential nature, oral or written, with tact and discretion.
  8. Perform functions not stipulated in the job description as instructed by the General Manager, in line with internal work rules and local labor laws.
  9. Fulfill and act on assignments, tasks, instructions, and orders from supervisors and authorized officials as needed.
  10. Be cross-trained in other hotel areas as required.
  11. Implement the 10/5 Rule during work hours.
  12. Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
  13. Perform daily repair and maintenance of kitchen equipment, including checking gas lines, detection panels, fire suppression systems, and gas valves.
  14. Attend daily briefings and execute maintenance orders, recording time and materials used.
  15. Handle mechanical, electrical, lighting, and plumbing maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  16. Report any defects immediately to the Assistant Engineering Manager or Assistant Director of Engineering.
  17. Maintain readiness of toolbox and order urgent spare parts or materials as needed.
  18. Manage the maintenance program of electrical outlets and perform planned preventive maintenance.
  19. Repair and maintain all kitchen apparatus, appliances, equipment, and associated pipework.
  20. Assist the Assistant Engineering Manager as necessary.
  21. Keep an accurate log of all work and materials used.
  22. Check and clear outstanding engineering orders, starting with urgent items.
  23. Follow safety clothing and maintenance instructions provided by management.
  24. Assist in emergencies and perform other engineering duties as required.
  25. Maintain a tidy and organized working area.
  26. Undertake any necessary training.
  27. Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions, install, replace, or repair damaged equipment, and calibrate controls.
  28. Adjust and maintain electrical and electronic control systems, clean heaters and blowers, and check burners.
  29. Assemble and install ductwork, maintain records, and respond courteously to public inquiries.
  30. Estimate time, materials, and equipment for jobs, requisition materials, and inspect fire sprinkler systems.
  31. Assist in electrical repairs, socket replacements, wiring for renovations, and maintaining electrical equipment for exhibits and conventions.
  32. Maintain logs for preventive maintenance and keep the department clean and organized.
  33. Respond promptly to guest maintenance complaints.
