Background:
The "EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification II" project aims to strengthen economic relations between the European Union (EU) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) through enhanced trade, investment, and regulatory cooperation. The project supports the economic diversification agendas of the GCC countries in line with the EU's strategic partnership objectives within the region.
DAI is looking for a Key expert 2: Advisor on Trade, Economics and Investment (Replacement)
Role Overview: In close collaboration and under the supervision of key expert 1, key expert 2 will be responsible will be entrusted with the crucial responsibility of conceptualizing and designing activities that promote objectives in alignment with these ToRs. This role entails a comprehensive understanding of the overarching goals and mandates specified within the ToRs, and translating them into actionable and impactful initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
Conceptualization of activities: key expert 2 will brainstorm, design, and plan various activities that support and advance the objectives outlined in the ToRs. Content development: key expert 2 will create detailed and engaging content for each planned activity. This involves researching, drafting, and refining written materials, multimedia presentations, and other resources necessary to ensure the activities are informative, relevant, and impactful. Strategy definition: key expert 2 will outline clear, actionable strategies for the successful implementation of the activities. This includes identifying key stakeholders, setting timelines, allocating resources, and establishing metrics for measuring success.
Key expert 2 will be home-based in one of the six GCC countries. She/he is expected to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at least once a month and to other GCC countries or to the EU as needed subject to the approval of the project manager of the Contracting Authority.
Required qualification and skills
Academic qualifications:
Completed university degree at Masters Level OR an university diploma of at least 3 years (Bachelor level) in areas relevant to the job (economics, business and investment, or a relevant, directly related discipline) and an equivalent professional experience in an area related to the job of at 5 years in addition to the general professional work experience’s requirements stated below. Sound strategic thinking, ability to deliver under tight pressure. Functional knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic (level B2) is an asset.
General professional work experience
Minimum 7 years of post-graduate professional experience in the area of international trade, foreign direct investment and/or business internationalisation (including in functions
involving policy analysis and recommendations) or relevant areas.
Specific professional experience
At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in managing international projects. Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate professional experience in the GCC countries. Post-graduate professional experience working on issues related to economic diversification and/or reforms in one of the GCC countries is an asset
All experts must be independent and free from conflicts of interest in the responsibilities they take on.
