Position: Junior Sous Chef - Butchery
Your Day to Day:
  1. Oversee daily operations of the butchery department, including staff management and scheduling.
  2. Ensure compliance with food safety standards, Halal requirements, and local regulations.
  3. Expertly cut, prepare, and display a variety of meats according to customer preferences and Middle Eastern traditions.
  4. Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain relationships with meat suppliers.
  5. Train and mentor junior butchers in proper cutting techniques and customer service.
  6. Provide expert advice to customers on meat selection, preparation, and cooking methods.
  7. Implement and maintain quality control measures for all meat products.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to create special offerings and promotions.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and introduce new products or techniques as appropriate.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in butchery, with 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  2. Expert knowledge of various meat cuts, preparation methods, and butchery techniques.
  3. Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and manage a team effectively.
  4. Strong understanding of food safety practices and Halal requirements.
  5. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build relationships with clients.
  6. Proficiency in inventory management and basic computer skills for ordering systems.
  7. High school diploma or equivalent; additional culinary education is a plus.
  8. Current food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) and Halal certification.
  9. In-depth knowledge of local and international meat grading systems.
  10. Familiarity with Middle Eastern meat preferences and traditional cuts.
  11. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
  12. Ability to work in a cold environment and handle sharp tools safely.
  13. Excellent communication skills in English.
  14. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
