Job Purpose
Perform instrument maintenance, repair, installation, trouble shooting, modification calibration and testing on a wide variety of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic instruments and control devices. The work includes routine layout, piping or wiring, repining, or rewiring, connecting, setting, calibrating, checking, and proving.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Check instrument and control devices to determine condition using testing equipment such as pressure and temperature calibrators for calibrating and testing.
- Obtain material and parts, dissemble unit, clean, repair, replace reassemble and calibrate faulty parts when needed.
- Receive instruments and components, affix plant numbers and initiate records of such numbers as assigned, install checks, adjust, and maintain the unit for proper functioning.
- Make service calls for repair and propose maintenance without supervisor's assistance. Salvage all material possible on assigned jobs.
- Test pressure gauges and repair or replace parts as required. Maintain shop equipment in proper operating condition.
- Remove instruments and control devices to shop by change out, whenever feasible, and overhaul unit for use in later change out.
- Installation of new Instruments in the refinery draws all material possible on assigned jobs, as also removing, replacing, checking, repairing, zero checking, and overhauling any Instruments equipment.
- Read and apply all Electrical and Electronic cards or drawings.
- Conform to safety standards, rules, and practices. Maintain good housekeeping including job site clean-up.
- Guide, instruct, inform, and coach helpers assigned to improve skill and work quality.
- Make verbal or written reports to instrument supervisor regarding conditions or problems encountered on job assignments, perform in the interest of economy and efficiency other similar or lesser functions as assigned which are essential to complete the job.
- Perform any other job-related duties as requested by immediate supervisor/ manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Technical diploma or associate in instrumentation or equivalent related field
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- 1 to 3 years of experience
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to understand documentation effectively.
