Overview
- Develop a phased-out plan to prepare adequate Welding Procedures for Petro Rabigh company use and compile Welding Manual for continued use and references.
- Coordinate with procurement and prepare approved list of Welding Consumables Manufacturers for Petro Rabigh use.
- Issue quarterly progress reports on above tasks.
- Lead analysis of data pertinent to Inspection related problems, with respect to materials, selected welding process, and welding consumables and other essential variables. Also emphasis on good welding practices such as the right use of backing gas, need for acid pickling, demagnetizing of parts to be welded, and removal of impregnated Sulphur from service exposed parts, importance in pre-heat, Interpass temperature controls, intermediate stress relief (IST), and PWHT practices.
- Lead proposal development for engineering projects, including welding scope, selection of most economic welding processes, and testing techniques, and weld designs in order to improve existing welding practices and associated costs.
- Prepare, review and improve specialized Inspection procedures on as required basis.
- Prepare failure analysis reports on Equipment Failures due to Welding Practices/Corrosion/leak and recommend rectification actions that including how to avoid repetitive failure in the same form.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university and certification for API-510, API-570 or API-653 is part of the minimum qualification requirement.
- 10 years minimum with direct involvement in refinery or petrochemical plant inspection, maintenance or operations.
- Candidate have a basic understanding of Refining & Petrochemical processes and technologies; familiarity with ASME, API and ASTMcodes.
- Understanding of the basic principles of corrosion, metallurgy and materials of construction, welding procedures,; refractory selection and application procedures.
- Knowledge of Welder Qualification and management, Procedure qualifications and management.
- Working knowledge of welding alloy steels and service exposed steels and troubleshooting during welding challenges.
- Make sure proper documentation is readily available for the new project and provided by EPC. All documentation should be approvedas per the applicable Procedures requirements.
