Job summary

Job description
The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic HVDC Service Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for working at Saudi Egypt High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Link, along with other Hitachi Energy HVDC customer sites throughout the GCC but primarily the Saudi HVDC Converter Stations.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Providing first line support along with maintenance & repair services for the Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA).
  • Working closely with the existing Service team to gain the competencies to provide 1st line support.
  • Flexible working hours will also be required for significant maintenance tasks on an impromptu basis as required.
  • Supporting the wider HVDC as and when required by the needs of the business.
  • Delivering exceptionally high availability to the entire HVDC system.
  • Controlling and performing work activities on HV/LV electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems.
  • Maintaining the value and maximize the design life of the system.
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with this valued customer.

Your background
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in HV power systems or a heavy industrial environment.
  • Safety switching experience/Power plant operational experience/ General certificate in occupational health and safety/ IT / Cyber security experience
  • Experience providing safety from the system and safe systems of work.
  • Maintenance / fault finding experience with UPS systems, Battery Chargers, Air Handling Units, Pumps, PLCs & Generators.
  • Driving license.
  • MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Fire detection and protection system awareness / maintenance experience.
  • Maintenance / fault finding experience with SCADA / PLCs and control systems.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English.
