Job Introduction:
Responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs in compliance with legal regulations and industry standards. This role ensures a safe working environment in all food processing, packaging, and storage areas while supporting quality and food safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Strategic:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid facilities, and communication protocols. Conduct regular drills to assess the effectiveness of emergency preparedness measures.
- Apply health and safety rules in all stages of work and follow-up implementation to create healthy & safe company culture.
- Work on initiatives for the continual improvements in health, safety and environmental activities.
(2) Operational:
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify hazards, unsafe practices, or non-compliance. Report the any deviations and follow-up on the corrective, preventive actions.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate records of all incidents and provide timely reports to the line manager.
- Assist in implementing HSE procedures, risk assessments, and safety audits in food production and storage areas.
- Support and participate in accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Track and report HSE KPIs (e.g., TRIR, near-miss frequency, environmental compliance scores).
- Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to employees on topics such as hygiene, food safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical handling, etc.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE and monitor environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, noise, humidity).
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to ensure cross-functional compliance with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., BRC, GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Monitor waste management, chemical storage, and pest control practices to ensure environmental compliance.
- Participate in HSE audits and support third-party inspections or certification processes.
- Coordinate with respective functions to ensure that safety and environmental emission standards are being met on an ongoing basis.
Academic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or occupational health & safety, Environmental Science or any relevant major.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in HSE function preferably in food industries.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
- Good communication, training, and reporting skills.
- Certifications in NEBOSH, ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO22000, BRCGS will be considered as added value.
