HSE Technician

Job Description:

Education & Experience:

  1. Typically at least 2 years of HSE or related experience in a manufacturing, oilfield, or similar environment.
  2. High school diploma in Health, Safety, and Environment or equivalent degrees.

Technical & Problem Solving Skills:

  1. Basic knowledge of local HSE regulations.
  2. Learning to apply basic knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted procedures within the HSE department.
  3. Ability to identify deviations from standards.
  4. Basic knowledge of functional HSE programs such as:
  • Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO)
  • Management of Change (MOC) Process
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting
  • Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Risk Assessment (Hazard Identification [HAZID] or Hazard Operability [HAZOP] studies)
  • Efficient use of basic computer hardware and software for tasks.
  • Interpersonal Skills:

    1. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching.
    2. Ability to articulate and substantiate own point of view to peers and supervisors.
    3. Capable of preparing and delivering presentations and reports.
    4. Willing to learn and work on HSE reporting systems (uploading data and extracting reports).
    5. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
    6. Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.

    Physical Demands:

    1. Potential for extended walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and moderate lifting daily.
    2. Periodic assistance in handling containerized chemicals and wastes by hand or mechanical means.
    3. The work environment may involve exposure to dirt, grease, and dust, and work in hot and cold weather conditions.
