Job Description

The HSE Engineer advises and assists Project and Construction Management in the formulation, implementation, and management of project safety plans. These plans may pertain to one or more job site locations, which are separate and distinct construction operations requiring integrated supervision of programs. Reports functionally to the senior construction site representative and organizationally to the Safety Manager. Ensures that the project safety plan reflects company policy and provides a coordinated plan for the overall project which complies with prevailing safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  1. Represent the Safety Manager on construction job sites.
  2. Advise and assist the senior construction site representative in establishing and managing the job site safety program, identifying and eliminating/controlling hazards to persons and property.
  3. Inspect the job site to detect and correct safety hazards.
  4. Supervise first aid personnel in providing care for occupational injuries or illnesses.
  5. Audit job accident records and prepare periodic audit reports.
  6. Initiate and conduct accident investigations and prepare reports.
  7. Represent management during safety inspections by regulatory authorities or insurance carriers.
  8. Review and distribute safety inspection reports with recommended corrective actions.
  9. Provide comprehensive safety training to all workers, including site hazards, safe work procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  10. Promote safety awareness and a strong safety culture on site by encouraging safe work practices and recognizing safe behaviors.
  11. Monitor workplace health conditions, implement health and hygiene programs, and address health concerns.
  12. Maintain HSE documentation.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  2. At least 8 years of relevant experience in Health and Safety.
  3. Certification from recognized Safety, Health, or Environmental bodies (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  4. Valid SCE Membership.
  5. Good communication skills.
