About the Job

Position: Hematology - Oncology Senior Registrar

Location: Al Salama Hospital

Department: Oncology

Reports to: Head of Department (HOD)

Role Purpose

The Hematology Oncology Senior Registrar provides patient-centered, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care and Patient Management

  • Provide comprehensive and specialized care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage blood disorders and cancers using evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure patient-centered care while adhering to ethical and professional standard.
  • Demonstrate expertise in malignant hematology and provide specialized care for patients with complex hematologic conditions.
  • Perform and oversee key hematology-oncology procedures, including Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy, Lumbar Puncture, Abdominal Tap, and Intra-cavitary Chemotherapy, ensuring high standards of patient safety and care.

Clinical Risk Management

  • Identify and manage clinical risks related to hematology and oncology treatments.
  • Implement and follow risk management protocols to ensure patient safety.

Compliance and Quality Management

  • Ensure adherence to clinical governance and quality standards in hematology and oncology care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.

Professional Development and Excellence

  • Engage in continuous professional development and training
  • Participate in educational activities to stay updated with advancements in hematology and oncology.

Ethical Practice

  • Uphold integrity and professionalism in all clinical responsibilities.
  • Ensure ethical decision-making and responsible medical practice.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 3 - 5 years of post-qualification experience in hematology and oncology.
  • Certification and registration in hematology recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • Active and valid life support certification (e.g., BLS, ACLS, ATLS).

Desired Experience:

At least 3 years of Specialist level experience.

Desired Education & Skills:

  • Additional hematology/oncology-specific qualifications or fellowship training.
  • Expertise in managing advanced hematological and oncological conditions, including precision medicine, cellular therapy, and clinical trials.
  • Strong leadership, teaching, and research capabilities.
