Job summary

A leading equipment service provider in Jeddah seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician to join their Engineering Service team. The role involves attending to breakdowns, performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on various powered access machines. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and a history of working with complex machinery. A strong focus on customer service and safety practices is essential. The position may require outside of normal working hours.

Qualifications

  • Experience with powered access equipment such as cherry pickers and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Experience with construction machinery maintenance.

Responsibilities

Job description
Overview

Reporting into the Service Manager, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician will be part of the wider Engineering Service team that is responsible for attending breakdowns and carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, servicing and repairs to a variety of powered access machines. Planned preventative Maintenance (PPMs) will also be a part of the daily duties.

This is a customer focused engineering role requiring a strong ability to build rapport and solid customer relationships. The chosen candidate will need to be a confident, professional person with good level communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and proactively, whilst providing the highest levels of customer service.

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician may be required to work outside of normal office and will mainly be depot based.

Key Responsibilities

Planned Maintenance

  • Complete planned maintenance activities including maintaining the appearance of the fleet to corporate standard. Ensuring all waste is disposed as per the Company policy.

Repair

  • Thoroughly diagnose, fault find and repair machines within the workshop in line with manufactures specification and Company policy. Refrain from undertaking any task in which your ability or knowledge does not allow you to complete.
  • Follow the proper R4 procedures when changing the machine status (without deviation) - PHI (4) - Repair (3) - PDI (1) – Available

Quality, Health and Safety

  • Maintains the highest level of safety during execution of tasks and that each task is done in conjunction with the relative Safe System Of Work ( SSOW ) and Risk assessment for the task in hand.
  • Flag any non-compliances with the health and safety and / or repair standards to the line manager.
  • Responsible for understanding and practicing appropriate safety procedures as follows:
  • Act as safely at work as you would elsewhere, if not more so
  • Use the tools available to you to maintain a safe environment
  • Participate in the safety training programme to educate yourself on hazards, safety practices, and rules
  • Communicate about unsafe practices and conditions
  • Always follow safety rules and regulations
  • Test-drive repaired equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Adhere to safety procedures rigorously to prevent accidents.
  • Validate the correct operation of repaired equipment through test-driving.
  • Conduct test drives on repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality.

Skills

The chosen candidate will meet ALL the essential criteria below:

ESSENTIAL

  • High school education, vocational qualification or above
  • Previous experience working on a range of complex machinery such as mobile access, heavy plant or other construction equipment
  • powered access equipment e.g. cherry pickers, scissor lifts, propelled booms and hoists.

DESIRABLE

  • IPAF demonstrator license
  • Knowledgeable of the Saudi Arabia geographical area
