Job description

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician will be part of the Engineering Service team responsible for attending breakdowns, fault-finding, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs of powered access machines. Planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) will also be included in daily duties.

This customer-focused engineering role requires strong rapport-building skills and the ability to develop solid customer relationships. The ideal candidate will be confident, professional, possess good communication skills, and be capable of working autonomously and proactively to deliver high-quality customer service.

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician may need to work outside of regular hours and will primarily be depot-based.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Planned Maintenance
    • Complete planned maintenance activities, including maintaining fleet appearance to corporate standards and ensuring waste disposal complies with company policy.
  2. Repair
    • Diagnose, fault-find, and repair machines within the workshop according to manufacturer specifications and company policies. Refrain from tasks beyond your knowledge or ability.
    • Follow proper R4 procedures when changing machine status: PHI (4) - Repair (3) - PDI (1) – Available.
  3. Quality, Health, and Safety
    • Maintain high safety standards during all tasks, adhering to Safe System of Work (SSOW) and risk assessments.
    • Report any health and safety or repair standard non-compliances to the line manager.
    • Understand and practice appropriate safety procedures, including acting safely, using tools correctly, participating in safety training, and communicating unsafe practices.
    • Test-drive repaired equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.
  4. Skills

    The candidate must meet all the essential criteria below:

    • High school education, vocational qualification, or higher.
    • Experience working on complex machinery such as mobile access, heavy plant, or construction equipment, including powered access (e.g., cherry pickers, scissor lifts, booms), diggers, drilling equipment, dumpers, excavators, forklifts, ground-care machinery, and plant machinery.
    • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical circuits and systems, with the ability to read circuit diagrams and schematics.
    • Ability to methodically fault-find, diagnose, repair, and maintain various powered machines.

    Desirable:

    • IPAF demonstrator license.
    • Knowledge of the geographical area of Saudi Arabia.
