We are seeking an experienced FHIR Consultant to lead the design, development, and implementation of FHIR-based healthcare interoperability solutions. This role combines strategic consulting and hands-on development, ensuring seamless healthcare system integration while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has expertise in FHIR standards, API development, healthcare data exchange, and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA and GDPR. You will collaborate with internal teams, healthcare providers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to design scalable, secure, and efficient FHIR-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• FHIR Consulting & Solution Design Advise on FHIR adoption, compliance, and interoperability strategies.
• FHIR Implementation & Development Lead FHIR resource, profile, and API implementation.
• API & System Integration Develop and integrate FHIR solutions with EHR/EMR systems and legacy healthcare platforms.
• Compliance & Security Ensure adherence to HIPAA, GDPR, ONC, and implement security best practices.
• Testing & Optimization Validate FHIR implementations, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance using cloud technologies.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in healthcare IT, interoperability, and FHIR development.
• Strong expertise in HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, and healthcare data exchange standards.
• Hands-on experience with FHIR development frameworks (HAPI-FHIR, .NET FHIR SDK, Firely).
• Proficiency in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, JSON, XML, and healthcare data formats.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
• Knowledge of FHIR compliance, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Git).

Preferred:

• HL7 FHIR Certification (e.g., HL7 FHIR Proficiency Exam).
• HL7 Certification (e.g., HL7 v2/v3 Certified Specialist).
• CDA Certification (e.g., HL7 CDA Certified Specialist).
• Experience with API Management tools (Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong).
• Knowledge of FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) and profiling.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications in healthcare interoperability.
