Job description

Health and Wellness Manager RN

Description:

Plans, manages, and administers the Center’s Health and Wellness Services Program, including medical, dental, mental health care for students, environmental health, and TEAP.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develops and implements the Health and Wellness Services program in accordance with DOL guidelines, federal, state, and city laws and regulations.
  2. Supervises, trains, assesses, and provides leadership for Health and Wellness staff.
  3. Acts as liaison to local agencies for coordinating wellness services and environmental health inspections.
  4. Provides health services to new students and establishes individualized student health and wellness plans according to the center’s protocols.
  5. Schedules medical examinations for new students.
  6. Manages the mental health program, including making referrals and coordinating activities with mental health consultants, TEAP, TUPP, and other health-related programs.
  7. Establishes and manages medical records and the Health Management Information System.
  8. Prepares medical and serious incident reports.
  9. Communicates with parents, legal guardians, and staff regarding students’ health and well-being.
  10. Conducts health and wellness assessments, and plans services to meet student needs.
  11. Manages pharmaceuticals and clinic supplies, ensuring proper inventory and storage.
  12. Ensures proper handling and disposal of hazardous wastes.
  13. Inspects food service facilities and dormitories regularly.
  14. Organizes staffing for overtime and on-call coverage to ensure compliance with policies.
Skills/Competencies:
  • Knowledge of management practices and team leadership.
  • Ability to manage budgets and control expenses.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing practices and techniques.
  • Understanding of laws regulating healthcare and patient privacy (HIPAA).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Familiarity with medical needs of adults.
  • Meticulous documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook.
Education Requirements:

State Licensed Registered Nurse.

Experience:

Minimum of three years practicing nursing, including at least one year in a supervisory role. Valid driver’s license, current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
