Job description

To assist Maarif Education with achieving its commitment to safeguarding the welfare and protection of all children and young people, the purpose of this role is to ensure the effective development and implementation of school health and safety plans in a school setting. This role will be responsible for ensuring the school site safety and health plan is prepared and implemented. This role will provide local guidance and support to all stakeholders to ensure that health and safety practices are in accordance with both domestic and international standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science, NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001 2018, KAWADER
  • 1+ year in the same field

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carrying out daily health and safety inspections on the site to ensure it's hazard-free and preparing weekly reports and monthly work for the monthly scorecard, as well as conducting risk assessments and enforcing preventative measures in all school campuses.
  • Checking the firefighting and alarm systems, following up with contractors, and conducting equipment inspections to ensure they are correctly installed and operational.
  • Applying precautionary measures according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health for any infectious disease.
  • Making emergency plans and mock drills for each semester, training the staff accordingly, and carrying out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
  • Conducting safety awareness work for students and all staff inside schools.
  • Investigating accidents that have occurred within incident areas and taking immediate and further actions to avoid future occurrences, also conducting investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
  • Conducting toolbox meetings and orientation for new employees and staff training.
  • Ensuring follow-up and implementation of security contracts and their terms.
  • Discovering training needs and communicating with management.
  • Ensuring proper traffic management within the site and outside in cases of road work.
  • Supervising clinics and ensuring that clinic equipment needs are completed.
  • Overseeing the work of the school safety committees.
