Job Purpose

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join BAE Systems Arabian Industries. Arabian Industries was created as a Saudi Arabian joint venture company co-owned by BAE Systems and local shareholders to deliver KSA industrialisation of supply chain management and thereby support Saudi Vision 2030.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the BAE Systems majority owned Joint Venture company ‘Arabian Industries’ as Head of Commercial. The post holder will manage the commercial activities of the line of business, ensuring that business success is maximised in line with agreed targets. They will also ensure all legally binding company commitments are agreed in accordance with Arabian Industries policies and procedures.

Job Accountabilities

  • Manage and set objectives for a team of commercial staff
  • Produce a full range of contractual documentation for assigned areas in line with all relevant Arabian Industries requirements and procedures
  • Lead or participate in contract / subcontract negotiations
  • Lead support for Customer and End User commercial matters
  • Manage contracts / subcontracts, ensuring the efficient and effective resolution of issues
  • Actively support the development, co-ordination and implementation of pricing and payment strategies and policies in assigned areas, in accordance with all relevant Arabian Industries requirements and procedures
  • Actively support the development, co-ordination and implementation of overall financial targets and budgetary management strategies in assigned areas
  • Manage potential areas of risk and carry out supporting risk analyses and assessments
  • Build, manage and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements
  • Lead on the resolution of commercial issues to facilitate effective business decision-making
  • Lead regular reviews with suppliers to review relationship on current, future bids and opportunities and ensure that contracted obligations and agreed targets are achieved
  • Lead, develop and motivate any assigned staff to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their responsibilities and deliver Saudisation plans
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Functional Plan, communicating and implementing the plan to ensure strong governance and business effectiveness
  • Liaison with senior stakeholders within internal and external customer community.
  • Manage interfaces with Finance, Legal, HR and Tax to establish effective contracting and pricing models
  • Manage RBA activities
  • Assessment and production of Commercial Plans in support of LCM.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

  • Relevant Degree and extensive commercial experience
  • Experienced in developing key supplier relationships and strategies to meet the needs of the business and where appropriate aligning to wider BAE Systems strategies
  • Can resolve business inter-dependencies and issues with projects and functions across other BU’s and BAE Systems entities in KSA
  • Extensive knowledge of business unit financial and commercial policies
  • Good working knowledge of the business unit approach to Life Cycle Management
  • Strong track record of contributing to the management of contractual issues
  • Thorough understanding and comprehension of commercial contracts & law
  • Proven negotiating skills in a range of environments
  • Wide ranging experience of dealing with domestic and international suppliers
  • Accredited by the World Commerce and Contracting (WorldCC) or equivalent.
