Job Description
The Head Nurse is responsible for managing specific designated nursing services. This includes allocating resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate nursing care, providing input into managerial decisions, and keeping staff informed about nursing management activities. The role supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of CareConnect, adheres to policies & procedures, and acts as a role model by strictly following hospital and international nursing practice codes, respecting patient rights, and ensuring a safe, dignified, and private environment for patients and staff.
Leadership and Management Skills
- Monitor nursing staff patient care processes and performance.
- Support organizational mission, vision, and values; adhere to policies & procedures.
- Model professional nursing practices and uphold patient rights, ensuring privacy and dignity.
- Empower staff nurses and support evidence-based practices at the bedside.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing department's performance improvement plan.
- Ensure departmental plans align with organizational performance improvement goals.
- Maintain departmental dress codes and promote a safe, efficient work environment by following AMS policies.
Resources and Staff Management
- Ensure adequate staffing of licensed nurses for all patients.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for nursing staff.
- Ensure staff competency through evaluations and feedback.
- Monitor staffing levels, attendance, punctuality, and manage leave plans fairly.
- Address staffing deficiencies proactively.
- Maintain high standards of interpersonal communication and stress management.
- Complete required training and manage supplies, medications, and equipment efficiently.
Collaboration and Communication
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, therapists, and healthcare team members.
- Communicate effectively to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and protect patient confidentiality.
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Ensure accurate and current patient records and documentation of nursing interventions.
- Comply with legal and regulatory documentation standards.
Professional Development
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education, conferences, and networking.
- Seek growth opportunities through workshops, seminars, and certifications.
- Act as a preceptor and maintain licensure and certifications.
Quality Improvement, Safety, and Infection Control
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies.
- Implement evidence-based practices and participate in performance improvement committees.
- Monitor infection control protocols and safety measures to prevent healthcare-associated infections and accidents.

Education
