Job description

This position is at a placement/broking level. Works alongside the client relationship and business development team in the placement of Health and Benefits insurance programs. Takes ownership of the renewal cycle for all placement activities pertaining to their assigned accounts, ensuring the timely production of quotations, coverage specifications, prepares submissions, presents submissions and negotiates with insurers to secure the best possible terms and coverage that meets the client’s needs. Advises Account Managers and business development teams on which carrier to select and prepares and presents client proposals. Binds cover and quotes. Prepares periodic performance reports based on the analysis of client claims data, and advises Account Managers on problematic areas of policy performance and cost-saving opportunities, within the overall goal of improving the health of the client’s policy and the attractiveness of the client’s risk to insurers.

The Role

  • Provides coverage and program design advice and expertise to client relationship managers and business development team.
  • Attends client meetings with the client relationship manager and/or business development team on all renewals.
  • Communicates with client relationship and business development team regarding program, program improvements, overall insurance policy performance, problematic areas, cost-saving opportunities, benchmarking of clients' benefits, and options on coverage changes.
  • Analyzes claims data and creates claims utilization reports.
  • Identifies appropriate markets and works within the Head of Placement’s placement strategy.
  • Negotiates with carriers on prices and coverages.
  • Works towards a multi-year plan to improve the health of clients' insurance policies and make their risks more attractive to the market.
  • Provides updates on market regulatory changes and coverage enhancements (CHI).
  • Assists as a technical resource for less experienced placement team members.
  • Complies with WTW guidelines and procedures; adheres to the Excellence Framework.
  • Manages KPIs and SLAs.
  • Works with the Placement Leader on carrier management framework and owns several key carrier relationships.
  • Supports placement managers in collaboration with the placement leader.

Relationship Management

  • Liaises with clients in coordination with Client Account Managers and builds strong relationships.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with insurers on multiple levels and channels.
  • Understands clients' business and risk appetite, seeking solutions to meet those needs through ongoing servicing.
  • Draws on expertise from within the H&B team as required.
  • Maintains high-quality touch points by phone and face-to-face with clients in coordination with Client Account Managers.
  • Participates in stewardship meetings (Renewals).
  • Supports the Client Management team in identifying and closing rounding opportunities.
  • Works according to annualized service plans that define engagement and timing of engagement with clients.
  • Proactively collaborates with operations and IT to ensure smooth day-to-day service delivery.

Duties

  • Works with internal and external sources to identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Supports the development of further business opportunities through service offerings.
  • Enhances the reputation of Willis Towers Watson as a service organization among internal and external clients.
