Job description

Basic Function
To assist Saudi Aramco and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare employees and their dependents in achieving and maintaining good oral and general health. Responsibilities include providing accurate diagnosis, comprehensive dental treatment planning, and delivery to meet patients' health needs. The role also involves educating patients on good personal oral health care and motivating them to adopt healthy oral hygiene practices.

Scope
As a healthcare professional, the General Dentist operates independently within the dental clinics of Saudi Aramco and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare communities. The scope covers all areas of general dentistry, with responsibilities including supervising dental assistants and ancillary staff.

Principal Contacts
• Interacts primarily with Saudi Aramco and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare employees and dependents seeking dental care.
• Collaborates with Supervising Dentists, other Dentists, Physicians, Dental Therapists, assistants, and Laboratory personnel.
• Regular communication with the Physician Managers of Primary and Specialty Care Services.
• Occasional contact with the Manager of Dental Support Services and the Chief of Dental Services Division.

Principal Duties
The General Dentist provides comprehensive outpatient dental care, collaborating with specialists and healthcare professionals as needed.

  1. Patient Examination and Evaluation:
    Conduct thorough clinical and radiographic examinations, identify issues, order and interpret radiographs safely, diagnose with aid of study casts and vitals, and plan treatments based on findings.
  2. Patient Management and Professionalism:
    Recognize personal limitations, refer patients when necessary, and adapt to cultural differences, providing advice on oral hygiene and health hazards.
  3. Patient Treatment:
    Handle all aspects of general dentistry, perform preventive procedures, prescribe medications, administer local anesthetics, adjust occlusions, restore teeth, prepare prostheses, perform oral surgery, and provide emergency services. Recognize orthodontic issues and oral pathology with basic knowledge of general medicine.

Experience
Minimum of 3 years in general dentistry practice.

Certifications/Other Requirements
Meet Saudi Ministry of Health licensure requirements, be licensed or registered to practice dentistry in the country of origin or Saudi Arabia, classified as a General Dentist by the SCFHS, and successfully complete a 3-6 month proctorship under a Senior General Dentist.
