We are searching for an experienced General Curator / Manager for an exciting facility in Saudi Arabia. You will be responsible for the day-to-day facility management, husbandry operations, zoo staff oversight, animal wellbeing, and maintenance of the site.
Duties
Animal Care:
Oversee the daily care and husbandry of all animal species in our facility.
Ensure that all animals receive proper nutrition, enrichment, and medical attention as required.
Maintain high standards of animal welfare and safety.
Diet and Food Stock Management:
Work with the vet team to develop and implement dietary plans for each animal species, taking into consideration their unique nutritional requirements.
Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and diverse food stock.
Monitor food quality and safety, ensuring that all diets meet established standards.
Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, portion sizes, and dietary changes.
Staff Management:
Lead, train, and motivate a team of animal care professionals.
Create schedules, assign tasks, and provide guidance to staff to ensure efficient operations.
Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional development.
Facility Management:
Manage the maintenance and cleanliness of animal enclosures, exhibits, and related facilities.
Collaborate with maintenance and construction teams for enclosure improvements and expansions.
Reporting:
Reporting daily / weekly / monthly on progress in accordance with the Client’s requirements.
Experience, Skills & Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience in animal care, with a strong background in managing diverse animal species.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills within the English language and must be able to conduct themselves in a professional, positive manner with co-workers and guests.
Must have a strong attention to detail and be proactive, self-motivated, independent, a problem solver and be able to work with intermittent guidance; also calls for flexibility and the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience.
Computer literate (MS Office) proficiency with computers and ZIMS software applications.
High school or college level course work desirable with a focus in any of the biological sciences.
