ROLE OVERVIEW

The Fixed Asset Manager is responsible for capital accounting process and controls, including control effectiveness and control enhancement and managing the Neom wide fixed asset audit process (internal, external and government). This role will provide expert advise and take responsibility for decisions on impairments, useful life and ensuring proper capital accounting treatment, as well as supporting the Capital Accounting Director in Capital Asset matters.

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

  • Responsible for fixed asset accounting process and capital controls
  • Ability to use professional knowledge and skills in Transactional & Financial Accounting Principles, including interpretation of IAS16, IAS36, IAS38 and other Financial Standards to ensure costs are correctly capitalized and valued, cost allocation, physical verification, classification and controls, combined with a high degree of diligence to contribute proactively to continuous improvement of organization’s accounting, and reconciliation processes and standards.
  • Take ownership of the Fixed Asset sections of the Capital Accounting Manual, liaising with the General Ledger team, Financial Controls, Financial Planning & Analysis, Business Units and other stakeholders to ensure the process and controls are fully understood and fit for purpose
  • Document, implement and enhance financial controls to ensure the capital asset environment can be relied upon
  • Ensure that asset locations are correctly recorded, this will include system development to ensure the process is robust
  • Liaise with the business asset owners to ensure assets are physically verified in accordance with company policy and any loses / physical deterioration is adequately recorded
  • In the future, supervise and develop Senior Project Accountant(s) to achieve the Group’s objectives
  • Using SAP S/4HANA, PS (Project System) and summary output from Oracle PMIS to analyze and take financial responsibility for the capitalization of Capital Work in Progress (“CWIP”) balances on all projects;
  • Ensure CWIP is transferred to Fixed Assets, promptly and using appropriate classifications
  • Work with the Commercial and Technical teams to evaluate the carrying value of Fixed Assets to ensure any impairments or, if appropriate, any IAS40 revaluations are properly recorded

The Fixed Asset Manager responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Stakeholder Management

  • Analyze stakeholders’ needs, interests, and influence to prioritize engagement strategies.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans tailored to different stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through regular communication and meetings.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing their concerns and providing updates on relevant activities.
  • Manage the dissemination of information, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including projects, business proponent, and operations / facility management, to ensure stakeholder interests are aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Identify and address potential conflicts or issues with stakeholders proactively.
  • Mediate disputes or misunderstandings, ensuring that resolutions are in the best interest of both the stakeholders and the organization.

Change Management

  • Stay informed about best practices in fixed asset accounting and apply them to enhance process and control.
  • Seek feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve the quality of engagement and reporting.
  • Promote transparency and accountability in all interactions with stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks associated with the change and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Develop a strategy that outlines the approach, resources and timelines for implementing the change.

Project Management

  • Provide regular reports to senior management on fixed asset status, movements, and pending items.
  • Use feedback and data to refine and improve reporting and timeliness of asset capitalisation.
  • Coordinate involvement in projects, ensuring a good awareness of status and upcoming operations.
  • Track and monitor stakeholder engagement activities and their impact on project outcomes.

Leadership

  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other communication materials tailored to stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure that all stakeholder engagement activities comply with the relevant regulations and ethical standards.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive strategies and decisions.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 7+ Years of experience in Accounting or relevant field
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in Financial Reporting and Controls and Accounting Standards.
  • Experience of managing a substantial Fixed Asset Register
  • Exposure and interaction with an Operational Enterprise Asset Management System.
  • Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data;
  • Highly skilled in use of Excel/PowerPoint;
  • Highly skilled in use of MS Word and must be a very good writer in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department which may include translation;
  • Excellent verbal skills;
  • Team player and ability to oversee team players;
  • Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to completed the required tasks;
  • Ability to work in stressful, last minute and deadline driven oriented tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field.
  • Relevant Professional Memberships/Accreditation.
  • Experience in SAP
