The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in steering the financial operations of FAENA during its pre-opening phase. Responsible for establishing and overseeing a comprehensive financial structure that supports the resort's successful launch, including the development and implementation of financial strategies, budget management, and providing financial guidance to senior management for long-term sustainability. Excellent knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential. Key Responsibilities :
Financial and Management Accounting Responsibilities :
- Manage accounting records, financial reports, and oversee the issuance of financial reporting.
- Ensure books, records, and accounts are maintained accurately, reflecting transactions and asset administration.
- Ensure general ledger postings comply with the uniform system of accounting for the lodging industry and company policies.
- Establish strong cash management controls, prepare monthly cash flow forecasts, and recommend actions.
- Manage cash requirements and coordinate with owners on funds.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, with discrepancies identified and corrected promptly.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations in line with company policy.
- Oversee the Finance and Accounting department to ensure timely and accurate financial and management reports.
- Establish and recommend major financial objectives for the hotel.
- Direct the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts; recommend economic objectives and policies.
- Maintain accurate yearly financial statements according to IFRS.
- Generate operational analysis reports to minimize variances, including performance vs. budget and prior year, flow-through analysis, menu engineering, profit margin, staffing, and payroll costs.
- Ensure capital purchases/disposals adhere to policies and review related reports.
Communication and Relationship :
- Build strong relationships with owners and asset managers.
- Report monthly on financial performance to regional, corporate, and asset management groups.
- Collaborate closely with the General Manager and Executive Committee, acting as a business advisor and risk advocate.
- Maintain communication with government auditors, external auditors, business partners, and local authorities.
- Provide financial training to hotel management teams and act as a coach for finance and non-finance managers.
- Keep records of education, training, skills, and experience of staff.
- Define and communicate responsibilities and authorities within the organization.
- Develop individual career development plans.
- Handle special assignments from regional or corporate teams, meeting deadlines accordingly.
Risk, Audit, and Compliance Responsibilities :
- Ensure compliance with company finance directives and delegation of authority.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with Internal Audit on compliance, risks, and fraud prevention.
- Adhere to Ennismore's Code of Conduct and report deviations.
- Coordinate tax compliance with government authorities.
- Monitor legal issues affecting the property and report to owners and corporate office.
- Maintain internal controls to ensure transactions are authorized and compliant with accounting principles and local laws.
- Maintain relations with external auditors and review their findings.
- Review and certify financial reports before distribution.
- Coordinate with treasury and corporate finance on cash flow, policies, audits, and insurance.
- Contribute to drafting and implementing finance policies, ensuring compliance.
- Conduct monthly performance reviews with Heads of Departments and develop action plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business, accounting, or professional accreditation (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CMA, IFRS).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel brand.
- Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of Opera, Micros, Sun, and Hyperion; excellent communication skills in English.
