Job Summary:

The Field Services Engineer will be responsible for inspecting, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical equipment at customer sites. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to supervise onsite teams while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection, testing, and commissioning of MV/LV electrical equipment (Switchgear, MCCs, Transformers, VFDs, Protection Relays, etc.).
  • Conduct start-up, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of electrical power systems at customer sites.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and repair faults in electrical systems within strict timelines.
  • Perform Technical Audits (TA) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) for electrical equipment.
  • Modify site plans based on work progress and project requirements.
  • Generate daily/weekly reports on site activities, findings, and resolutions.
  • Supervise and manage onsite technicians, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals, implementing modifications when necessary.
  • Utilize test equipment and diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, relay testers, insulation testers) for accurate testing and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with Eaton safety standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and junior technicians.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure smooth execution of field service tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting MV/LV electrical systems.
  • Experience with switchgear, transformers, protection relays, VFDs, and motor control systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards (NFPA, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
  • Proficiency in electrical testing equipment (e.g., Megger, Doble, Omicron, relay test sets).
  • Ability to read and modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of power system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA systems (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, project management tools).

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (interacting with clients, teams, and management).
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in field environments.
  • Leadership skills to supervise and guide onsite technicians.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites as needed.

Preferred Certifications (Advantageous):

  • Certified Electrical Safety Professional (CESCP) or similar.
  • HV/LV Switching Operations Certification.
