Role & Responsibilities

We seek individuals with a passion for teaching and a desire to engage students in the classroom, supervise and mentor students on research and industry projects. The role involves blending traditional subject matter mastery with problem-solving, industry-based applications, and laboratory experiences to enhance student learning and prepare them for the workplace and lifelong learning. The individual is expected to contribute to the development and growth of the Computer Science program, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, seek external funding, establish a research program leading to peer-reviewed publications, and provide service to the program, university, community, and profession. The College of Engineering & Sciences offers excellent experimental facilities and computational resources, with encouragement for collaboration within and outside Computer Science. Considerable institutional resources are available to support the research program.

• Official duties include teaching and service activities as assigned.
• This is a non-tenure track, full-time teaching position on a 9-month contract.
• Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate courses.
• Teaching may involve face-to-face and/or hybrid interactions, with a minimum of four days a week on campus.
• Teach up to 30 credit hours per contract year.
• Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the ABET and SACSCOC Program Coordinator.
• Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses.
• Employ sound pedagogical practices and appropriate technology in teaching.
• Complete student course evaluations each course.
• Adhere to deadlines and processes for submitting grades.
• Advise students and provide individual assistance during weekly office hours.
• Participate in course/laboratory revisions and curriculum development as assigned.
• Collaborate with other faculty and staff to advance the program.
• Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings.
• Participate in convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and community meetings.

Preferred Candidate Profile

PhD in Computer Science with specialization in Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence.
