Job description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of culinary excellence and leading our talented team of chefs.

  1. Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and maintaining quality standards.
  2. Demonstrate and teach a variety of culinary techniques to develop and mentor the culinary team.
  3. Create and implement new menu items, considering local tastes and seasonal ingredients.
  4. Manage food cost control, inventory, and budget in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
  5. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of hygiene in the kitchen.
  6. Coordinate with other departments to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
  7. Oversee the preparation and execution of banquets and catering events.
  8. Implement and maintain quality control measures for all food production.
  9. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and professional growth.
  10. Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary, assuming full responsibility for kitchen operations.

Qualifications

  1. Proven experience as an Executive Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role.
  2. Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  3. Excellent culinary expertise with a deep understanding of various cuisines and cooking techniques.
  4. Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation.
  5. Strong communication skills with fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  6. Thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  8. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  9. Proficiency in kitchen management software and MS Office applications.
  10. Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution.
  11. Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe).
  12. Experience in luxury hotel or resort settings is preferred.
  13. Familiarity with Middle Eastern cuisine and dietary requirements is advantageous.
