The EVP, Chief Financial Officer serves as the senior financial executive, providing strategic leadership and guidance to ensure long-term financial health and sustainability of the company. The role will work closely with the executive leadership team in our Head Office to align financial objectives with the overall business strategy. overall responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of a company, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk and governance as well as negotiations.
Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team
Develop and implement the company's financial strategy, policies, and procedures
Oversee all aspects of finance operations, including financial planning, analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and management of ad hoc financial projects.
Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
Provide strategic direction, as well as track cash flow, manage the accounting and finance departments, and ensure the company’s financial reports are accurate.
Analyze and interpret financial data to provide insights and recommendations that guide strategic decisions.
Oversee all treasury functions, including cash management, ensuring effective cash flow management and the timely settlement of financial obligations, including vendor payments.
Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
Monitor the overall funding status, disbursements, related reporting, and capital structure
Identify and mitigate financial risks to the organization
Lead the finance team and oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of finance team members
Partner with other functional leaders to support cross-functional initiatives and drive organizational growth
Manage the finance department’s operations, establish goals and objectives, and design frameworks to meet these targets effectively.
Ensure optimal business processes and financial management and drive the continuous improvement of accounting practices across the finance department.
Lead planning and forecasting activities with business partners to align financial strategies with corporate goals and develop financial trends and projections.
Conduct thorough analysis of costs, pricing, revenue, and overall financial performance compared to business plans.
Oversee the accurate record-keeping and filing systems for all financial statements and corporate documents.
Participate actively in developing and implementing changes to financial policies, procedures, and systems to facilitate business expansion and ensure scalability and compliance.
Ensure that financial and accounting policies and procedures are in accordance with statutory regulations and global standards and comply with risk management and internal controls.
Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained and stay informed about changes in financial regulations and legislation.
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance organizational procedures and controls and ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and laws and represent the company’s interests to external stakeholders such as investors and regulatory bodies.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s degree) in finance, accounting, economics or a related field;
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles, preferably in a complex, multi-faceted organization
Proven track record of developing and executing financial strategies that support business objectives
Experience in the financial services sector; Fintech experience is highly advantageous.
Extensive understanding of finance trends both within the company and general market patterns
Highly effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Proficiency in the use of financial software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools
Thorough understanding of advanced accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices, with great attention to detail
Proven ability to manage, guide, and lead employees to ensure appropriate finance processes are being used.
Experience in AP and AR and running an annual audit.
Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
