About the job Estimation Director

Position Title: Estimation Director

Department: Estimation and Cost Control

Reports to: Managing Director Operations

  • Direct Reports: Senior Estimation Manager Estimation and Cost Control


Position Overview



The Estimation Director is responsible for leading and managing the Estimation and Cost Control department, providing strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure timely and competitive tender submissions. This role plays a key part in the planning, cost engineering, and commercial strategy across all project bids, aligning with client requirements and organizational goals. The Estimation Director ensures accuracy in project costing and supports project delivery from a commercial and operational perspective.



Key Responsibilities




  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tender bids, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with client specifications and company standards.

  • Adhere strictly to the internal tendering procedures and ensure consistency across all estimating activities.

  • Review and validate job summaries including labor, material quantities, and cost, maintaining alignment with project specifications and budgetary parameters.

  • Collaborate with the Commercial team to review and confirm rates and pricing in the tender/contract BOQs.

  • Lead post-tender negotiations and clarifications with clients to secure projects with optimal profit margins.

  • Maintain and update the construction cost database to support accurate pricing and timely procurement.

  • Monitor and analyze unit rates, material costs, labor, and equipment usage across projects.

  • Enforce adherence to internal commercial and contractual procedures.

  • Manage incoming customer enquiries, register active leads, and assign responsibilities to the estimation team.

  • Evaluate all customer-supplied materials, specifications, and procedures for accurate cost forecasting.

  • Consolidate and prepare detailed and competitive quotations reflecting the agreed scope of work.

  • Coordinate with the Estimating, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure seamless bid preparation and submission.

Qualifications and Experience



Minimum Qualifications:




  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying

  • Masters degree in Engineering (preferred)


Minimum Experience:




  • 15 -20 years of experience in Interior Design Fit-Out (ID FO) and FF&E estimation

  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC and other contract forms

  • Familiarity with construction contract law and claims procedures

  • Certified in AutoCAD and Technical Drafting


Key Competencies and Skills




  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to resolve disputes and secure favorable outcomes

  • In-depth understanding of contract structures, documentation, and construction procedures

  • Proficiency in estimating, commercial planning, cost control, and ERP systems

  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and analytical skills

  • Experience in procurement processes

  • Good knowledge of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems
