The Elementary school counselor is responsible for providing personal and/or academic counseling along with the support services necessary for their implementation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Establish implements and manages programs designed for the academic, career, and personal/social development of Elementary school students. The successful candidate will provide individual and group counseling to students, provide counseling services to students per their IEP requirements, and interact with staff and parents in trying to meet students' needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide academic and personal counseling on a drop-in or scheduled basis.
• Present classroom guidance materials for appropriate goals.
• Provide individual counseling (personal/emotional, academic, and behavioral).
• Provide scheduling of classes for students as needed.
• Process academic/behavioral referrals with staff.
• Establish procedure based on district policy and follow through with appropriate action.
• Assist teachers in understanding their students, including providing and interpreting student data.
