Job description

The ER Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced Emergency Room (ER) environment. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while adhering to facility policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices. The ER Staff Nurse will triage patients, prioritize care based on urgency, and assist physicians in emergency medical procedures. Key responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring the readiness of emergency equipment. The nurse will also provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver efficient and effective care.

Additionally, the ER Staff Nurse will participate in continuous professional development, adhere to infection control and safety protocols, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work under pressure are essential for success in this role.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with a Diploma in Nursing, or 1 year of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency and trauma care protocols, including triage, resuscitation, and patient stabilization.
  • Proficiency in administering medications, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and wound care.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments, making critical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Competence in infection prevention and control (IPC) practices to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
