The Equipment Inspector is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and compliance of heavy machinery and equipment used on construction sites. This role involves conducting inspections, performing maintenance checks, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
Conduct visual, auditory, and operational inspections of various types of heavy equipment, including cranes, bulldozers, excavators, and other machinery. Perform quality control inspections, document findings, and recommend repairs or maintenance.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, perform minor repairs, and coordinate major repairs with repair shops. Manage scheduled maintenance to optimize equipment performance.
Monitor safety compliance, conduct load tests, and act as a safety liaison, educating staff on safety procedures.
Work with project teams to meet specifications and participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments.
Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, knowledge of safety standards, and proficiency with inspection tools/software (e.g., Cat Inspect).
Ability to lift heavy objects, perform inspections in various weather conditions, and work in confined spaces and at heights. The role involves travel between sites and outdoor work with PPE.
