Job description

WKC is seeking an Environmental Scientist / EIA / Ecologist with experience in assisting with field surveys and strong technical written skills, along with a basic understanding of statistics. Strong field ecology survey skills in terrestrial ecosystems are highly desirable. Experience in undertaking ecological impact assessments is preferable.

The role involves conducting desk studies on terrestrial and/or marine ecology, conducting field surveys, assisting with ecological impact assessments, and providing mitigation for protected flora and fauna for various development projects in the KSA. Additionally, responsibilities include report writing, maintaining and monitoring survey equipment, and proposal writing.

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience working in KSA and conducting ecological assessments.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Integrate with WKC’s ecology team to conduct field surveys.
  2. Analyze data and samples, and study species distribution patterns.
  3. Manage field survey teams.
  4. Assist with habitat surveys, including identifying different habitat types and associated flora and fauna in the field.
  5. Undertake report writing and assist in maintaining and monitoring ecological survey equipment.
  6. Understand wildlife legislation and policy in the Arabian Peninsula and communicate this effectively to colleagues, clients, and contractors.
  7. Keep accurate field notes and handle, record, and store data effectively.
