Job Overview Purpose and Scope

The HSE Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of Shura Island Golf Company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. This role focuses on providing technical expertise and hands-on support to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, minimize environmental impact, and promote sustainable practices in alignment with the Red Sea Project's environmental goals. The specialist will work closely with various departments to implement HSE procedures, conduct assessments, and ensure compliance with relevant Saudi Arabian regulations and the Red Sea Project's guidelines.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist in the development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and standards specific to golf course and resort operations.
  • Conduct and contribute to risk assessments and hazard identification across all activities, recommending and implementing control measures.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring (e.g., water quality, waste streams, emissions) and ensure compliance with Saudi Arabian environmental regulations and the Red Sea Project's environmental guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, and monitor adherence to safe work practices.
  • Assist in the implementation of occupational health programs, including ergonomic assessments and awareness initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of waste reduction, recycling, and proper disposal procedures. Monitor and assist in controlling potential sources of pollution.
  • Assist in the delivery of HSE training programs and contribute to the development of HSE communication materials.
  • Participate in incident investigations, gather data, and assist in identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation and regular testing of emergency response plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of sustainability initiatives related to resource efficiency, conservation, and minimizing the environmental footprint of the golf course and resort.
  • Participate in internal HSE audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
  • Collect and analyze HSE and environmental data, contributing to regular reports on performance and compliance.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 2-4 years) in supporting HSE functions, preferably within the hospitality, leisure, or tourism industry. Experience with golf course operations is a plus.
  • OSHA certification is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of Saudi Arabian HSE regulations and environmental laws. Familiarity with the Red Sea Project's environmental guidelines is an advantage.
  • Practical experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing control measures.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and waste management practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and basic training skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in English (Arabic language skills are an advantage).
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
