The project is a major a mixed-use development aiming to be a global landmark recognized for its unique vision and position as an authentic destination in Riyadh. The community will be a distinct, self-sustaining hub for Riyadh offering several iconic assets. KBR will provide Project Management Consultancy services in project planning, controls, design and engineering management, and implementation of the development and early works packages.

THE ROLE

Management of the environmental impacts resulting from construction, to minimise short- and long-term effects on land, air, and water quality, and development and implementation of sustainability initiatives in line with the Project’s vision and targets.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Validate an Environmental Management Plan, that details all requirements to be fulfilled across the project packages and submit to DC.
  • Validate the EMP that shall describe the required procedures, document / record management, and communication protocols, systems, structures, and include tools, templates and checklists to be implemented by Contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, service providers and other project stakeholders as applicable, for the successful execution of environmental requirements.
  • Conduct annual internal audits on the implementation of the EMP and submit to the Environmental Manager. Ensure the implementation of the corrective and preventative actions, as well as improvement measures are managed by the Construction Supervision Consultant.
  • Validate the Contractor’s pre-construction survey in accordance with requirements, reviewed and approved by the Construction Supervision Consultant.
  • Establish processes to monitor, measure, control and report on Environmental issues against the Project’s Environmental Impact Assessment – EIA, and Construction Environmental Management Plans – CEMP.
  • Review and validate Construction Environmental plans of all Contractors.
  • Lead and manage regular coordination meetings with all Construction Supervision Consultant and Contractors and prepare monthly environmental and sustainability reports.
  • Review, validate and issue incident reports on environmental compliance of construction and develop and manage the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist and coordinate submission documentation and required applications, NOCs and approvals from the NCEC.
  • Advise on environmental policies and regulatory requirements, while ensuring applicability to projects and implementation on site.
  • Direct liaison with all levels of construction and site management, as well as regulatory authorities; also, complementary disciplines such as logistics, and health and safety.
  • Provision of supervision, direct instruction, mentoring, training, assessment, review, technical input, monitoring, rectification, remediation, infringements, auditing, coordination, validation, incident reporting on environmental compliance of all construction activities involved within the assigned projects.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • BSc/Diploma in Environmental Science / Engineering or similar
  • 4 years total experience and minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction site management of environmental issues with GCC experience.
  • Experience in strategic and development control planning and liaison and coordination with regulatory authorities.
  • Experience in carry out site surveys and EIAs, and CEMP implementation and auditing.
  • Production of weekly and monthly reports demonstrating level of compliance of consultants and contractors.
