Job Purpose:

To lead and implement the hotel’s Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs, ensuring compliance with local regulations, brand standards, and global best practices. The role drives a culture of safety, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility while supporting the hotel's sustainability goals and corporate social responsibility commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

He alth & Safety Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain all health, safety, and fire protection programs in line with legal requirements and brand standards (e.g., IHG Safety, Security, and Risk standards).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency drills.
  • Ensure all staff receive appropriate safety and first aid training.
  • Lead investigations for incidents and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are taken.

Environmental Management & Sustainability

  • Oversee the implementation of sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and biodiversity protection.
  • Drive Green Engage, ISO 14001, or other environmental management systems as applicable.
  • Collaborate with all departments to embed sustainable practices across operations.
  • Lead sustainability reporting, including data collection and KPI tracking.
  • Deliver EHS and sustainability training programs for colleagues at all levels.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and employee engagement in sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory health, safety, and sustainability training requirements.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Ensure readiness for crises, including fire safety, evacuation protocols, and business continuity measures.
  • Conduct regular drills and training sessions.

Audit & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead internal audits for EHS and sustainability programs.
  • Prepare for and support external audits (local authorities, brand audits, certifications).
  • Monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in EHS and/or sustainability management, preferably within hospitality or complex operations.
  • Strong knowledge of local EHS legislation and international standards.
  • Passion for sustainability, with demonstrated success in implementing environmental programs.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and influence positive change.
  • Proactive problem-solving and risk management.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Collaborative, approachable leadership style.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement.
