Summary

Responsible for diagnosing and treating conditions related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. ENT consultants may also treat children and adults, and often work in both clinic and surgical settings

Education / Qualification Required:
  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
      • USA: The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – ENT )
      • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register – ENT
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College – ENT (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a tertiary care center in ENT Surgery is a MUST
  • Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
  • Current BLS/ACLS Certificate
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Governed by the responsibilities outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Provides a high quality medical care to patients particularly in the area of otolaryngology, Head & Neck as inpatient and outpatient and operative surgery.
  • Operate in the OR within his approved privileges.
  • Physically present in the OR to assess and supervise his assistant to conduct surgery when his assistant has no approved privileges to carry out the procedure under the category of Solo in the privilege form.
  • Expect to be present in the working vicinity during normal working hours.
  • To be available for contact at any time while in town.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned and other duties as needed.
  • Provides consultative service as requested.
  • Participates in the department’s educational activities, training programs and division meetings. I 0. Participates in research activities.
  • Shares on-call schedule for the Division of ENT, and communication sciences as needed.
  • Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history.
  • Examines affected organs.
  • Determines nature and extent of disorder.
  • Prescribes and administers medications, or performs surgery.
  • Performs tests to determine extent of loss of hearing due to aural or other injury.
  • Performs test to determine extent of speech loss as result of diseases or injuries to larynx.
  • Follows all hospital related policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for submitting approved ‘!’RA by the Section Head, to block his clinic or provide approved coverage by completing the clinic blocking form through the proper chain of command and blocking the OR prior to submitting the TRA to the Chairman for final approval. Ensure approval of proper TRA by the Chairman before going on leave.
  • Meet the CME requirements of Saudi specialization.
  • Maintain the spirit of teamwork in the Division of ENT.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
