Engineering Manager - Major EPC HV Substation Projects (Saudi Arabia)
Location: Multiple Sites, Saudi Arabia
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Our client is a global leader in engineering, manufacturing, and construction, delivering complex energy infrastructure across the power generation and transmission sectors. They deliver complex EPC projects that drive the energy transition. We are recruiting a highly capable Project Engineering Manager to oversee the technical execution of multi-site high-voltage substation EPC projects across Saudi Arabia. Project typically in excess of $500m to $1Bn.
This role requires strong engineering leadership, deep knowledge of high-voltage design, and the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and technical interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering activities and design teams from concept through commissioning for HV GIS/AIS substation EPC projects.
  • Act as the main interface between the engineering team, client, and utility stakeholders.
  • Coordinate all design disciplines (primary, secondary, civil, and protection) to meet project scope, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and validate design deliverables, ensuring compliance with international (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, CIGRE) and Saudi standards (SEC, ECRA, SASO, TMSS, TESP, TCP).
  • Oversee design reviews, documentation control, technical risk management, and design freezes.
  • Support site teams by resolving design queries and ensuring smooth handover to construction.
  • Contribute to subcontractor selection and technical evaluations.
  • Lead internal coordination and client technical meetings.

Technical Experience Summary:

  • Proven experience in primary design and layout of HV substations (132kV-400kV)
  • Knowledge of HV equipment specification, layout, clearances, cable routing, and integration
  • Familiarity with earthing, lightning protection, civil coordination, and control/protection building design
  • Ability to review and approve technical documents from internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a lead engineer on EPC projects in transmission or power generation
  • Strong background in HV GIS/AIS substations and utility-standard compliance
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus
  • Willing to travel to project sites across Saudi Arabia
  • KSA nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
