Job description

To perform all clinical embryology and andrology duties following appropriate training and competency assessment.

Core clinical duties include:

  • Diagnostic Semen Analysis and Semen Preparation for Treatment
  • Oocyte Collections
  • Insemination, including ICSI
  • Embryo culture to Day 5
  • Embryo Transfer
  • Cryopreservation
  • Blastocyst Biopsy and/or PGS Consultations

To participate in laboratory maintenance tasks and assist in validation within the laboratory.

To assist in the management and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

To oversee the procurement of laboratory products and services.

To adhere to all standard operating procedures.

To inform patients of treatment options, treatment outcomes and discuss the implications.

To meet laboratory Key Performance Indexes for all critical laboratory tasks.

To assist in the implementation of decisions regarding the embryology area.

To assist in the supervision of trainee embryologists and laboratory assistants.

To take part in the normal rota of duties, including weekend work, on-call rota, and working bank holidays.

To plan own daily workflow in cooperation with other staff.

To contribute to the planning of clinical work schedules.

To comply with regulatory requirements for documentation and record-keeping.

To document all laboratory information accurately in patient notes, on Excel & databases.

To collect and report laboratory statistical data accurately and completely as requested by the Director of Embryology.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

  • Clinical or Life sciences degree.
  • ACE Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Embryology, ESHRE, or equivalent Certificate is preferred.
  • HFEA ICSI license is preferably required.
  • MSc or PhD in Reproductive science is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years as a qualified embryologist.
  • Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
