Job Summary
The role holder is responsible for performing electrical maintenance and repair activities, including troubleshooting electrical systems, conducting corrective and preventive maintenance, and assisting in the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment.
Key Accountabilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in accordance with safety and maintenance standards to ensure system availability.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities on electrical systems, including testing, cleaning, and lubrication, to ensure proper operation according to specifications in coordination with the operations team.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to prevent issues.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults, malfunctions, and breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
- Use electrical testing equipment and tools for accurate measurements and assessments.
- Report major maintenance needs to the supervisor for scheduling corrective actions.
Installation and Commissioning
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to assist in proper installation and connection of equipment.
- Collaborate with the Electrical Foreman and technicians on planning and executing installation projects.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards during installation.
- Calibrate electrical instruments and devices to maintain accuracy and reliability.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or Electrical Power.
Minimum Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Plant Electrical Maintenance.
Job-Specific Skills:
- High voltage substation testing and commissioning.
- Good understanding of English and effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components, including motors, transformers, switchgear, and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment, tools, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and safety practices.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with accountability and attention to detail.
- Expertise in testing electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgears, motors, and starters.
- Experience with electrical test equipment (e.g., Freja, CPC 100, DLRO, motor winding analyzer).
- Protection relay configuration and testing skills.
