Job Purpose
To independently perform electrical maintenance, repair, installation, troubleshooting, modification, and testing on a wide variety of electrical equipment, and installations, including high voltage distribution.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Repair motors and generators including disassembly, marking, installing, securing, and identifying coils and leads, assembly, adjusting, connecting, and testing of the unit.
- Repair switch gear and control panels (cubicles) including removal and renewal of contacts, springs, coils, and other components; rewiring, remounting, adjusting, and testing.
- Repair and install industrial and residential wiring system including shaping and setting conduit, pulling wire, installing, and making connection into junction boxes, service panels, switchgear, fixtures, motors, generators, pumps, and other electrical equipment.
- Trace circuits and identify through use of test equipment for power and ground circuits.
- Troubleshoot on circuits, systems, and equipment, and make necessary repairs or replacements.
- Repair and install power transmission and feeder lines and equipment. Install and replace transformers and switchgear.
- Make break connections for power lines, feeders, and transformers.
- Service energized transformers, run and install cables in underground conduit or duct/clean insulators.
- Repair and service power system protective relays, breakers and energy recording instruments including disassembly, cleaning, lubricating, checking, adjusting, assembly and the making of minor repairs to such devices.
- Rewire and otherwise renew control circuits. Troubleshoot battery charger ups and batteries.
- Guide, assist and instruct other employees in the course of their work. Always ensure full compliance with company health & safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform any other job-related duties as requested by immediate supervisor/ manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Technical diploma in Electrical studies from a recognized institution.
