Job description

Job Title

Electrical Project Engineer - APS Solution Engineering ME

Job Description

Vanderlande is the global leader for value-added logistic process automation at airports and in the parcel market, as well as a leading supplier of process automation solutions for warehouses.

Innovation is the key to winning in a world that is changing faster than ever, which is why it is essential for Vanderlande to develop cutting edge solutions. The use and development of cutting-edge technologies is core to that success. This technology alone does not make a successful organization and our mantra is “In a world of technology, a belief in people”.

Your Department

The Solution Engineering department is responsible for developing a winning commercial proposal, in close cooperation with the Sales Management department during the sales phase, and for successfully implementing the as-sold total solution with the Project Execution department. The department consists of a wide range of expertise to enable the design and sale of a total solution to customers and to execute these designs when awarded.

Key to the Solution Engineering department is one responsibility: to sell and execute a total solution within one team, without critical interfaces to other departments.

Your position

As Electrical Project Engineer, you will closely work with the Project Leader, Integration Manager, Mechanical, and Controls Engineers as part of a multidisciplinary team of Engineers. You will manage technical solutions pertinent to Electrical design and support sales in the bid and contract phase. During the execution phase, you will work towards the successful completion of one or more projects in an international environment.

Tasks And Responsibilities

As Electrical Project Engineer, you have a key role in the total electrical design; from power distribution, right up to preparing the bill of materials for all the required electrical components and ensuring that your Supply Chain colleagues can deliver on time as per customer requirements. An important aspect of your work will be producing the Control Architecture diagrams, using advanced network technologies such as Industrial Ethernet and AS-I bus. You will provide the design and drawing sets for the manufacturing of the electrical enclosures and the total cabling specification, from materials right through to the installation drawings and assembly instructions for the installer. It will be your task to make the detailed design and to explain it to the installer and support the installation and commissioning activities (either remote or on-site). Your checklists are used for complete installation, from connection to testing of the last I/O. To make your work even more challenging with the maximum possible technology depth, we use all the functionality of our CAD systems (AutoCAD and EPLAN). We also develop tooling to enable optimal execution of the engineering works.

Your profile

  • A technical degree (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation) at least at bachelor level
  • Previous experience in the material handling domain will be an added advantage
  • Desired experience level: 8 years and above in project engineering environment (system integration, solution design, project delivery)
  • Knowledge of design practices and qualification requirements, systems development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of the design, installation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of networks such as PROFIBUS, Profinet, ASI bus, and Industrial Ethernet.
  • Very good electrical knowledge for industrial automation
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems, power/control system cabinets, field equipment (sensors and actuators), switchgear and its characteristics for designing electrical systems
  • Knowledge of various electrical standards such as IEC, UL, etc.
  • Familiarity with design safety. Able to perform health, safety, and risk analysis (HSRA) on components.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools such as EPLAN P8 and AutoCAD.
  • Communicating with regular progress reports, aware of Earned Value Management, managing deadlines, and milestones
  • Feeds back lessons learned from the project into product, process, and tooling
  • Has experience of working with cross-functional, diverse, and global teams
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proactive, flexible, pragmatic, and hands-on attitude.
  • Ability to adapt to change with ease, capable of multi-tasking, and can manage a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Willing to go the extra mile to develop Electrical Engineering competency in the department.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
