Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Inspector to join our Western Region Distribution Department’s (WRDD) Inspection Unit (IU) of the Engineering Division. The Western Region Distribution Department is responsible for providing refined product for local markets such as diesel, jet fuel and 91 & 95 gasoline.

Your primary role is to inspect, design, test, evaluate failures, pre-commission, and commission Electrical and Cathodic Protection Systems for all facilities within the Western Region Distribution Department.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Provide design packages related to Cathodic Protection system upgrades for tanks (externally & internally), buried pipelines, road crossings, fire hydrants, and marine structures.
  • Perform electrical inspection surveys for battery banks, uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS), generators, motors, MOV, substations, switch racks, transformers, cable tray systems, conduit systems, enclosures, junction boxes, grounding systems, lightning protection systems, and lighting systems.
  • Perform Cathodic Protection inspection surveys for rectifiers, anode junction boxes, tanks, vessels, pipelines, road crossings, fire hydrants, and sheet piling marine structures.
  • Prepare comprehensive Electrical and Cathodic Protection Inspection Survey Reports and share them with concerned proponents within organization guidelines.
  • Report any electrical/cathodic protection findings to the Operation Foreman, and issue defect notifications through SAP/SAIF system.
  • Analyze the failures of Electrical and Cathodic Protection systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting to return systems back in service and provide root cause analysis to avoid future occurrences.
  • Perform required spot checks on plant maintenance (PM checks) and repair activities on critical electrical equipment.
  • Review existing Equipment Inspection Schedule (EIS) for Electrical and Cathodic Protection Equipment regularly and create EIS for new assets.
  • Ensure no overdue inspections as per EIS intervals. Conduct Pre-T&I (Test & Inspection) Surveys for subject assets, prepare observations along with recommendations, and monitor activities during T&I.
  • Review assigned standards and procedures, providing feedback during the revision cycle.
  • Conduct annual checks on electrical testing instruments used by maintenance as per ANSI/NETA International Industry Standards.
Minimum Requirements
  • As the successful candidate, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized and approved program. A Master’s Degree in Operation Management is preferred.
  • You will have a minimum of 12 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, including at least 10 years in Electrical and Cathodic Protection System Inspection.
  • Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • You must have NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) / AMPP (Association for Materials Protection and Performance) Certification.
  • You must have QMS ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification, IOSH Managing Safely, and QMS ISO 9001:2008 Internal Auditor.
