Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled Chiller Technician to join our team. The technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation: Install air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems, including associated piping, electrical connections, and controls, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on chiller systems, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting components, and replacing worn parts to ensure reliable operation.
  • Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in chiller units, including compressors, pumps, fans, and cooling towers.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies or malfunctions using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • System Optimization: Monitor and adjust chiller system parameters to maximize energy efficiency and performance while meeting client requirements.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, handling of refrigerants, and compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and service activities, including parts used and service reports.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, provide solutions, and ensure satisfaction with services rendered.
  • Inventory Management: Manage and maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies required for chiller maintenance and repairs.
  • Training: Stay updated on new chiller technologies and participate in training to enhance technical skills.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical or vocational program in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working with air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems.
  • Certifications: EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) required; additional certifications such as NATE or manufacturer-specific training are a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of chiller components, refrigeration cycles, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, such as manifold gauges, multimeters, and refrigerant recovery equipment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks at heights or in varying weather conditions.
