NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is committed to creating a carbon-free, climate-safe future. We are constructing the world's largest green ammonia plant, supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, with operations starting in 2026. Located in NEOM, the plant will integrate up to 4GW of solar and wind energy to produce up to 650 tons of green ammonia daily for global transportation. NGHC is a joint venture combining the expertise of ACWA Power, Air Products, and NEOM in hydrogen, energy, and renewables.

JOB DETAILS

Division: Power Transmission Maintenance

Group: O&M Power Elements (PWE)

Reports To: Maintenance Engineer - Transmission

Liaise/Cooperate With: NGHC O&M Team, Maintenance Contractor

POSITION SUMMARY

The instrumentation technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating electrical equipment used in NGHC's 380KV grid network. This includes monitoring equipment performance, such as pressure gauges, flow meters, induction testing instruments, earth testers, and voltage gauges.

NATURE & SCOPE

Main functions include:

  1. Installing and configuring protection relays, instruments, and devices.
  2. Routine calibration and testing of protection relays and instruments, documenting calibration data, and verifying data communication systems.
  3. Troubleshooting using tools like multimeters, communication devices, and software.
  4. Developing effective work relationships to complete responsibilities.
  5. Supporting contractors and staff in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring compliance with standards.
  6. Participating in installation, testing, and commissioning activities with EPC contractors.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in inspections, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of the Power Transmission Network.
  • Develop maintenance procedures based on OEM manuals and industry standards.
  • Identify operational and strategic spares for reliable plant operation.
  • Participate in or oversee installation, testing, and commissioning stages of EPC projects.
  • Develop scope of work for contractors or service providers.
  • Perform daily and preventive maintenance as scheduled.
  • Monitor protection relays and instrumentation condition, reporting issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve protection relay and instrument failures.
  • Calibrate instruments regularly to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of instrument malfunctions.
  • Manage spare parts inventory effectively.
  • Oversee third-party maintenance contractors, ensuring contract compliance.
  • Contribute to change initiatives and participate in training sessions.
  • Comply with environmental, social, health, and safety policies, including PPE, PTW, and LOTO procedures.
  • Coordinate with other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of maintenance of field instruments, signaling, and SCADA equipment.
  • Understanding of SCADA drawings and power transmission operations.
  • Basic knowledge of power transmission and instrumentation.
  • Awareness of quality, occupational health & safety, and environmental systems.
  • Teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Diploma in Electronics or Instrumentation.
  • At least 7 years of experience in maintenance and operation of high voltage transmission networks.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Over 7 years of relevant experience, including development/construction of power transmission networks.
