The opportunity
To build and grow the installation, testing, and commissioning of Hitachi & ABB HV products and their associated components, including monitoring systems, operating devices, measuring and control devices. Responsibilities include operating mechanisms of CBs and drives, SF6 gas handling and analysis, test results analysis, and all tasks related to PGHV products as advised or assigned by the line manager.
How you’ll make an impact
- Work as a Field Service Engineer to execute installation, testing, and commissioning activities at customer sites or Hitachi Energy projects related to HV products, including third-party HV products if applicable and authorized by Hitachi Energy management.
- Participate actively in site activities and visit customers for installation, testing, and commissioning of Hitachi and ABB HV GIS, GCB, LTB, DTB, and other equipment as required or assigned by the line manager.
- Coordinate with the tools management department, manage HV tools, and ensure proper use of Hitachi Energy HV test equipment and tools for site activities related to HV product installation, testing, and commissioning, as well as protection and control.
- Complete GIS installation and compartment assembly work, perform minor fabrications if needed, troubleshoot and rectify HV product defects at customer sites, and advise on repair actions, whether in the field or at the factory/workshop. Support PGHV service activities on-site or at customer workplaces.
- Learn and operate test equipment used for HV product testing and maintenance at sites, customer premises, or Hitachi Energy workplaces. Gain proficiency in the tools used for HV service jobs.
- Collaborate with the Project Management team on various projects, ensuring full compliance with project requirements and site regulations.
- Lead contractors or subcontractors during job execution, coordinate with customers and support teams for resource requirements, and ensure completion of tasks with proper documentation such as PAC or timesheets for invoicing.
- Prepare and share site reports, activity plans, and resource requirements with the PM, line manager, or supervisor.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations, demonstrate good conduct at the office and site, and report any safety or integrity incidents to the line manager, supervisor, or project manager.
- Implement Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity in daily activities, and submit weekly/monthly timesheets and expense reports as per guidelines. Obtain travel authorization prior to site deployment.

Your background
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- 3 to 4 years of experience with high voltage products, electrical equipment, switchgears, HV protection and control, monitoring, and measuring devices in industries or utility companies.
- Proficiency in computer skills and excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
