The Fire Life Safety Manager is responsible for managing and ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and code compliance of all fire protection and life safety systems within the facility or portfolio. This includes fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, jockey pumps, and other critical components in accordance with NFPA codes and standards. The role requires expertise in EDWARDS and Simplex fire alarm systems, as well as firefighting systems, to ensure a safe environment for occupants and full readiness for emergency response.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure all fire alarm, detection, suppression, and evacuation systems are installed, maintained, and tested in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and other relevant NFPA standards.
  • Oversee the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire alarm systems, including EDWARDS and Simplex, ensuring full operational readiness.
  • Manage and supervise maintenance and performance of jockey pumps, fire pumps, and sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA 20, 13, 25, and local fire codes.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks in compliance with NFPA 101: Life Safety Code.
  • Develop and enforce fire safety policies and procedures and maintain fire safety logs and documentation for audits.
  • Coordinate with local Civil Defense for inspections, approvals, and emergency response planning.
  • Lead and facilitate fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency response training for staff.
  • Oversee and verify work conducted by fire protection contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure fire safety systems are integrated with the building management system (BMS) and emergency control center.
  • Stay current with fire code updates and changes in NFPA, IFC, IBC, and local regulations.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in fire safety management or systems maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of EDWARDS EST3/EST4 and Simplex 4100 series fire alarm systems.
  • In-depth experience with fire pumps, jockey pumps, sprinkler systems, and related hydraulic calculations.
  • Certification or training in NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 72, 13, 25, 20, 101).
  • Familiarity with international codes (NFPA, IBC, IFC) and local civil defense requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and emergency response coordination skills.

Certifications (Preferred or Required):


• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems


• NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)


• OSHA or NEBOSH safety certifications (added value)
